In
recent years, international organizations, governments, and local
organizations have been implementing approaches to early childhood
development that combine both community services and home-based
programs.
These approaches have been effective in building sustainable development
because they educate both the community and the family, which ultimately
constitute the immediate and long-term environment of the child.
In Egypt and elsewhere in the developing world, early childhood services
are often delivered by local organizations (NGOs). NGOs throughout
Egypt's underserved communities work to increase awareness within the
community on health and nutrition as well as child-rearing and early
educational practices. While these organizations undoubtedly play an
essential role in providing such services, there remains much room for
improvement. |
